Palermo confirm Manchester United target Paulo Dybala will join Juventus.
Paulo Dybala has agreed to join Juventus this summer, Palermo have confirmed.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all expressed strong interest in the 21-year-old striker, according to Palermo’s outspoken president Maurizio Zamparini, but the player will remain in Serie A having agreed to join the Serie A champions.

Dybala was left out of the Palermo starting XI in Sunday’s victory over Cagliari by manager Beppe Iachini, who confirmed post-match the Argentine youngster is the latest addition to the Bianconeri squad.

“Dybala is now a Juventus player and this club is working towards the future,” the Rosanero coach told Sky Sport Italia.

Dybala, who has scored 13 Serie A goals this term, turned down the opportunity to sign a new contract with Palermo earlier this season, prompting Zamparini to do his very best to drum up interest in the club’s prized asset.

Since January, he has confirmed approaches from Manchester United and Arsenal for the player he likens to Lionel Messi, and remained confident Europe’s elite would be willing to match his €40m valuation of the player.

During that time, however, Dybala expressed his desire to remain in Italy.

“I admit it – I am very attached to Italy, where I have become famous, and I would like to stay here,” he was quoted as saying by La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Despite Zamparini’s previous demands of €40m, Juventus may have got their man for slightly cheaper. TuttoSport claimed this week the Serie A giants will pay €28m plus €4m in add-ons to secure the services of the Argentine star.

Palermo have already made moves to secure a replacement for Dybala, with Zamparini recently confirming they have a deal in place with Belgium side Zulte Waregem to sign Macedonian strike Aleksandar Trajkovski.
